As the only pair in the field to finish double digits under-par, there was never a doubt when Mark Strickland and John Adams took home the 2024 Senior Four-Ball title with impressive rounds of 63-66 to clinch victory by five strokes.
Strickland, who is the reigning SCGA Player of the Year, and Adams, who will tee it up at Soule Park GC in June as the defending SCGA Senior Amateur champion, worked seemingly perfect together in the four-ball, team format. Strickland did most of the heavy lifting on Monday's first round in terms of scoring, shooting five-under in a four-hole stretch on the front, then contributing two more birdies on the back to get his team to seven-under. Adams added a birdie himself to officially establish their side as the leaders in the clubhouse.
2021 SCGA Senior Player of the Year Robert Funk and his partner, Jason Bittick, shot 64 to position themselves one stroke back on the lead heading into the final round on Tuesday.
But Strickland and Adams kept the pedal to the metal. Posting four-under through their first five holes on Tuesday, Strickland and Adams had started to pulling away, opening a four-shot lead as they approached the back. Strickland rolled in a pair of birdies on the back. Adams contributed another, and the duo ended at 13-under over 36 holes.
Funk/Bittick took home second place, finishing at eight-under, while four teams finished T3: Jeff Thomas/Joey Ferrari, Jim Ream/David Ujihara and Anthony Ventura/Daniel Sivadge.
