Kory Frost was in a tight battle for a majority of the final round, but consistent play down the stretch helped him hold on to the lead and secure the 2026 SCGA Super Senior Championship at Coronado GC.
Frost started his championship with a roller-coaster first round, getting off to a fast start and carding three birdies in his first five holes. However, three bogeys over the final four holes on the front nine brought him back to even par at the turn. A birdie on No. 10 followed by a bogey on No. 15 would leave him at even with three holes to play. Frost would close out his first round with a bang; however, picking up an eagle on the par-5 18th to finish his opening round at two-under and move him into contention.
Heading into the final round in a tie for the lead, Frost would have a strong front nine with two birdies to put him at four-under for the championship. While Frost managed to pull away from his playing partner for the time being, past champion Craig Steinberg was making a push with three front nine birdies, putting him at two-under for the championship. Frost would rely on consistent golf down the home stretch, making pars on every hole but the par-3 15th where he carded his lone bogey of the round. Despite a late charge from his playing partner Steve McPherson, Frost held on to claim the championship by one stroke, earning his first SCGA Super Senior Championship title.
Legends (Ages 70+) Division
Jim Fuchs became just the second SCGA Super Senior Legends Division Champion at Coronado GC, relying on strong back nine performances on both days of the championship to secure the victory.
Fuchs would start off the championship with five consecutive pars before a pesky bogey ended his streak. After closing out the front nine at one-over, Fuchs would card two birdies to go along with two bogeys on the back nine, closing out his first round of the championship at one-over par. Entering the final day one back from the leaders, Fuchs’ final round would get off to a rocky start with a double-bogey on No. 3. Unfazed, Fuchs would bounce back with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 4 and 5. A bogey on No. 7 would leave Fuchs at one-over for his round and two-over for the championship with nine holes remaining. Birdies on Nos. 10 and 15 would put Fuchs in a strong position heading to the final three holes, and, despite a bogey on No. 17, he would manage to hold out for the victory, besting the runner-up Curtis Worley by one shot.
