Jeffrey Gipner was the only player to card both of his rounds under par en route to capturing the Super Senior Championship at Victoria Club.
Gipner, who competed in the 2023 U.S. Senior Amateur, found himself in a three-way tie for first after one round. The trio, including defending champion Craig Steinberg and Jeff Thomas, each fired 69’s. Outside of Peter Ayers’ 71, no one else in the field had broken par.
Gipner, Steinberg, Ayers and Thomas led the charge on Tuesday. But it was Gipner who would emerge as the best of the bunch as the only player in the field to shoot his final round in the red. His second round 70, which included birdies on Nos. 3,9 and 18, bested Steinberg, who finished runner-up, by three strokes.
