It took three playoff holes — and beating the sunset — for Christopher Derr and Brady Esterbrooks to outlast Kevin Bodlovich and Michael Padilla to capture the SCGA Four-Ball Championship at Industry Hills GC.
Entering the final round, Derr and Esterbrooks were three strokes back of the leaders Scotland Schmidt and Grant Martens who combined to shoot the championship-low round (63) on Monday.
Derr and Esterbrooks erased their deficit through nine holes, carding five birdies. The duo held a one-shot lead heading onto 18, until Bodlovich rolled in a 25-foot birdie to tie it up.
The teams both birdied on playoff hole one, and then traded pars on the second, before Esterbrooks ended the match with a chip-in eagle, giving him and Derr their first SCGA victory.
