Stephen Hale and Corby Segal clinched victory at the SCGA Four-Ball Championship in a playoff at Bakersfield CC. With a stellar overall score of -12 (132) over 36 holes, Hale and Segal outlasted Ethan Elleraas and Reed Arnaldo as Hale drained the winning birdie putt on the third hole to secure the title.
Hale and Segal started the final round on Tuesday four strokes back of Elleraas and Arnaldo, who combined to shoot the championship-low round (63) on Monday. Hale and Segal's first-round 67 had also been posted by two additional teams; Andrew Rodriguez / Joseph Gutierrez and Damon Krause / Tongun Lako LoSarah.
Hale and Segal shaved a stroke off their deficit through nine holes, with Hale contributing three birdies to the effort. The duo made up the remaining three strokes on the back, turning in a final-round 65 and setting the stage for the playoff.
Krause/LoSarah and Rodriguez/Gutierrez tied for third at 11-under, along with Scotland Schmidt and Jack Townsend.
