Four-time SCGA Amateur champion Craig Steinberg added another championship to his ever growing resume on Tuesday, going wire-to-wire at the Ranch Course at the Alisal to capture his first Super Senior title.
He stood as the only player to finish the 36-hole competition under par, anchored by a strong first round four-under 68 that left him sleeping on a four-stroke lead headed into Tuesday's final round. No competitor came within three strokes of the leader, as Steinberg shot a comfortable 73 to finish at three-under and eventually win by four strokes.
Fresh off a T4 finish at the British Senior Amateur in July, this victory marks Steinberg's 13th SCGA title overall. He's put together an impressive season, finishing T10 at the Golfweek Senior Amateur and T4 at the Soboba Senior Challenge earlier this year.
Bob Valerio and John Hoffman split runner-up honors at one-under followed by Scott Parker and John Milleville (+3) to round out the top five.
