The 2025 Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship concluded in historic fashion as Kelly Ly faced Diane Irvin in a thrilling three-hole playoff after both finished tied at +4. Ly struggled to find her rhythm throughout the week and entered the final round two strokes back, but her short game rose to the occasion when it mattered most.

"Luckily, when my long game struggled, my short game made up for it," said Ly. "I can't say all parts of my game were perfect this week, but I tried to make up for each part."

Two of her best drives came during the playoff, setting the stage for a clutch putt from off the green to clinch the title. With the win, Ly becomes the first two-time champion in the event’s history, adding to her 2023 victory and cementing her legacy in the Women’s Mid-Am ranks.

"Winning this tournament pushes me a little bit harder to keep practicing and play better golf," said Ly. "My competitiveness grew after yesterday and we're keeping the cup in SoCal."

The champion looks to defend her title at the SCGA Four-Ball Championship later this year with partner Wendy Ohlmeyer, who placed 5th at Soule Park GC.

Also of note, Soule Park GC, a beloved Southern California facility, became the first public golf course to host the SCGA Women’s Mid-Amateur.

The top-five finishers, Kelly Ly, Diane Irvin, Lauren Gebauer, Natalie Mu and Wendy Ohlmeyer, earned an exemption into the 11th SCGA Women's Amateur Championship at Torrey Pines GC later this summer.
