Two-time U.S. Senior Amateur Champion Kemp Richardson of Laguna Niguel held off a charging field of strong competitors in the 2016 SCGA Super Senior Championship at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa. Richardson opened the scoring with a first-round-low score of 70 and followed that up with a steady 1-over 71 to hang on for the 2-shot victory. Making a late run at Richardson were Dave Sheff (Dana Point) and Frank Pieper (Carmel), who both finished two back of the eventually champion at 3-over par. Sheff opened his second round with four birdies in his first eight holes en route to a 1-under 69. Pieper also came out on fire, birdieing four of his first nine before cooling down to shoot an even-par 70.
