2017 Public Links Net Championship Recap

Results

The 2017 SCGA Public Links Net Championship concluded Sunday afternoon at Brookside GC in Pasadena. Three flights of players competed in the 50th annual two-day Championship.

The Bobby Jones Flight new champion is Amir Shafii (Golf Southern Cal Club) taking over the first-place position held by Timothy Kelley (South Bay Pub Links GC) as they entered day two. Shafii scored rounds of 73 and 64 respectively to capture the title with a 137 total.

Timothy Kelley received second carding 68 – 72 for a total of 140. Michael Maxwell (Los Amigos GC) held on to third with a 146, shooting 74 - 72 respectively.

The Jack Nicklaus Flight had a 7-under leader in John Steger to take the championship at 135. Starting off day one with a strong 66 Steger entered the second day of competition in second place.

The Jack Nicklaus flight awarded second to Mike Swain (CSC Golf League) with a two-day total of 136, shooting 71 and 65 respectively. Douglas Lovett rounded out this fresh leaderboard with a third place score of 137 over two days of play.

The Arnold Palmer first place champion is William Beal (Muroc Lake GC) carding 66 and 70 for a two-day total of 136 and 6-under overall. Stuart Gross (Torrey Pines GC) captured second shooting a 138. Jose Amaya (South Bay GC) took home third place with a 139.
