SAN GABRIEL, CA (December 12, 2024) — Team Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) claimed the championship for the 2024 Honors Matches with a team score of (40.0-32.0) over Team Southern California PGA (SCPGA) hosted at San Gabriel Country Club.
Since 2007, the Honors Matches have showcased the best amateurs of Southern California who represent the SCGA and take on the SCPGA Professional in the 16-person teams. It marks the first year that the Honors Matches combined the men and women on both sides to make up the teams of 16 (8 men, 8 women), respectively. The event is a biennial hosted on the even years.
The 16-person team will be invited as follows:
Top 4 men under 50 years of age
Top 4 men over 50 years of age
Top 4 women under 50 years of age
Top 4 women over 50 years of age
The Honors Matches for the SCPGA are selected based on the current season Section Player of the Year points and 50% of 2023 Section Player of the Year points.
With a two-day format of Four-Ball on day one, and the final day being played as Singles. On the first day, Team SCPGA took a 13.5-10.5 lead in the Four-Ball format.
Team SCGA emerged victorious during the final day in Singles, with a score of (29.50-18.50) to win the two-day event (42.0-32.0).
