Esther McKinley emerged from a crowded pack to win the Senior Women’s Net Championship at Glendora CC.
McKinley fired an opening round 79, leaving her just one shot behind two players tied for the lead.
Smelling victory, McKinley came out and matched her first round with another 79 that included four net birdies. She finished even par for her final five holes, playing well when it mattered. Her combined score of 12-over 158 was good enough to hold and secure herself the title.
“I’m a little surprised to be honest,” said McKinley. “It was a tough course setup but that’s the way it should be. I’m super happy to be on top.”
Jan Giles (Glendora CC) and Kim Jordan (Hacienda GC) tied for second place at 14-over par.
