After 28 years as a professional and regaining his amateur status a few years back, the 1974 California Amateur champion, Curtis Worley, conquered the 2022 SCGA Super Senior Championship at the Ranch Course at The Alisal by defeating Craig Calkins on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff.

Worley shared the overnight lead with Jeffrey Gipner after a 1-under opening round on Monday, Calkins trailed by one stroke as the three began the day in the final pairing. After a couple of front nine bogeys, Worley and Calkins traded birdies on holes 15 and 17 to stay afloat, but needed extra holes after finishing the day tied at 2-under overall.

The sudden-death playoff commenced on the 201-yard, par-3 18th hole, where Worley only needed a two-putt par to claim his first SCGA title.

Casey Boyns fired the low round of the week, a 3-under 69 to finish in third place at even-par total. Donald Baker finished in fourth place at 1-over, while Gipner finished fifth at 2-over.
