Nearly 200 players gathered at Desert Willow GR for this year’s Women’s Four-Ball Championships, marking the largest field size in an SCGA championship this season. Three champions were crowned in the net division as 95 two-person teams attempted to maneuver Desert Willow’s picturesque Firecliff and Mountain courses.

This championship is open to all female members of the SCGA, all that’s needed to play is a Handicap Index and a partner. The Coachella Valley has also quickly become the unofficial home of this five-year old championship, bringing together passionate women’s golfers to one of Southern California’s premier golf havens. The field was separated into three flights based on Handicap Index, meaning golfers of all skill levels and backgrounds were competing, with Handicap Indexes ranging as low as +2.3 and as high as 34.5.

Arroyo Flight

Daniela Casey and Jenny Davis took home the crystal in convincing fashion, combining to shoot net-66 in both rounds and win by four strokes. It was a bunched leaderboard after round one, but Casey and Davis were the only team to break net-70 on the second day to eventually come out on top.

Mission Flight

Sharon Chun and Pennie Feehan used a strong first-round net 63 to propel their team to victory. It became a two-team race after one round, as Meagan Bahruth and Sue McBride held the overnight lead with a net-62. Though Chun and Feehan responded with a two-under 70 second round to win by a comfortable four strokes.

Mountain Flight

Rebecca Bolander and Christina Fletcher won via a card-off and finished at 11-under, shooting 69-64. Because their back-nine second round score was one stroke better than Jacquelyn Jacquez and Connie Pastrerkiewicz, who also finished at 11-under, Bolander/Fletcher were declared winners and secured the crystal.
