After two rounds of plotting their way around a tough track, the Sunset Hills GC duo of Ron Fernandez and Brian Graver emerged victorious in the 2017 SCGA Four-Ball Net Championship at Braemar CC in Tarzana.
Finding themselves one shot behind the leaders heading into the final round, the dynamic duo from Thousand Oaks ham and egged their way to a tournament-low 14-under 62. Playing in a net best-ball format, the winning team carded three eagles and seven birdies en route to a 4-shot victory. The battle for second was highly contested as four teams tied at 10-under.
Brookside GC's Chiwon Kang and John Faieta turned in a final-round 64, as did the Carmel Mountain Ranch GC team of Dale Bergman and Mike Miller, to finish T2 with Tukwet Canyon GC's Zack Jellsey and Michael Nakunz. Rounding out the Top 5 was Tom Faia and Marcus Schonabaum of Canyon Lake GC.
To make the final field of 52 teams, players had to advance through one of four qualifiers that were held earlier this year.
