Charlie Olson and Will Tanaka collaborated to shoot one-under over two rounds and capture the SCGA's first championship of the 2024 season at Temecula Creek GC.
The duo opened competition with a 70, putting themselves two strokes ahead of the field heading into the final day. Although a slow start from Olson and Tanaka on Tuesday, where three of their first five holes ended with bogeys, allowed others to enter the mix. Alec Spencer and Mitchell Fedorka, who shot 74 on the first day, were slowly creeping their way to the top, followed by John Mahler and Alex Resurreccion.
But Olson and Tanaka did not falter, putting together a clean back-nine with zero bogeys and two birdies, which ended up being the difference. Spencer/Fedorka and Mahler/Resurreccion finished their rounds at one-over, while Olson and Tanaka stayed in the red numbers to eventually win the Foursomes Championship by two strokes.
