Buena High School Senior Brady McHenry captured the 2025 CIF-SCGA SoCal Boys HS Championship at Los Serranos GC (South). McHenry had an impressive day with eight birdies including four consecutive birdies on holes one through four. The Texas Tech commit finished the round tied with La Serna’s Hill Wang, both at -7, culminating in a sudden-death playoff on hole 10. McHenry used a beautiful approach shot to set him up with a birdie putt to win it, which he rolled in with ease.
“I just came out here to play my own game and focus on the shots I know,” said Brady.
Not only did he win the individual championship but he also secured his spot as one of nine individual state qualifiers to advance to the 2025 CIF State Boys HS Championship at Poppy Hills GC.
“This is my last year with [Buena HS] so I’m really happy to do this for them.”
The nine players advancing to the CIF State Boys HS Championship are Brady McHenry, Matthew Hull, Aadhavan Prasad, Shawn Nawata, Michael Riebe, Troy Song, Teddy Vigna, Jaden Soong and Brayden Jones. The three teams that qualified for the next round are La Serna who took home first place at -8, Torrey Pines who are the defending champions and this year's runner-up at -5 and Santa Margarita who rounded up the top three at -3.
