Mark Manwaring and Cass Traub of Long Beach fired an impressive round of 8-under par Tuesday to come from behind and win the 2012 SCGA Four-Ball Championship. For both, it was their first SCGA title.

“It feels really great to win, especially with such a great field and such a great golf course,” said Manwaring after the round.

The duo finished with a two-stroke victory, carding rounds of 66 and 63 on the Hacienda GC course. Their nine-birdie, one-bogey round of 63 was the low round of the tournament, propelling the champions to a two-day total of 13-under par 129. The remarkable final round was a complete team effort, with Traub firing five birdies and Manwaring chipping in four. The pair finished off their day in dominant fashion, earning red numbers on three of the championship’s final four holes.

“We just worked really, really well together,” said Traub. “We both played well, and just kind of fed off each other the whole round.”

Finishing in second place was the team of Tyler Crawford and Joe Sanders, who finished at 11-under par 131 after rounds of 66 and 65.Third place was earned by five-time SCGA Mid-Amateur Champion Tim Hogarth and his partner Corby Segal, who finished at 9-under par 133.

The Round 1 leaders, brothers Joey and Tony Behrstock, struggled Tuesday after ending Monday with a one-stroke lead. The two carded a 73, nine strokes higher than their first-round score, to finish in a tie for 13th.
