Billy Davis, fresh off his PGA Tour debut a week ago and Nick Geyer, winner of the SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship earlier this year, clinched victory in the 2023 Four-Ball Championship held at Bear Creek GC. The formidable duo secured their win with an impressive 13-under performance over the two rounds, narrowly defeating the San Diego-based team of Scotland Schmidt and Jack Townsend, who finished at 12-under.
Geyer sealed the triumph with a clutch birdie on the par-4 No. 18. The duo, initially part of a three-way tie for the top spot after the first round, showcased their consistency with rounds of 65-66 to claim the crystal.
Davis paced the scoring for his side, rolling in four birdies early on and finishing with zero bogeys for a casual 68 individual score. Geyer came in as the closer and posted a crucial birdie on No. 15 before sinking the eventual game-winner on 18.
Davis, only 17 years old, made headlines with his recent PGA Tour debut at the World Wide Technology Championship at El Cardonal. Meanwhile, Nick Geyer has enjoyed a successful year. In addition to claiming victory in the 2023 SCGA Mid-Amateur, he secured a T9 finish at the 2023 Public Links Championship.
