As the ten-month long SCGA One-Day Series season came to a close for the year, the top 32 players on the One-Day Series Player of the Year Points List advanced to the culminating event of the season at Soule Park GC.

After a day of stroke play, the field was cut to eight players to set up a single elimination match play format for the final two days.

Eric Choi was red hot out of the gates, earning a 7 & 6 win to advance to the semifinals. This time, he needed the full 18 holes but still clinched a 3 & 1 victory to advance to the final match against Robert Modrich.

Modrich won two of the first three holes to go one-up, and remained in the lead until Choi stole two consecutive holes on Nos. 8 and 9 to turn the tables as they made the turn for the back.

Choi was on a heater, winning three of the next four holes to go 4-up through 13. But Modrich fought back. He rattled off three consecutive wins on the next three holes to trail by just one hole with two left. No. 17 was halved and Modrich would send the match into extra holes at the buzzer with a par on the 18th hole.

But it was Choi who prevailed in the second playoff hole to not only capture the elusive championship crown but take home One-Day Series Player of the Year honors.

SCGA One-Day Series is open to all SCGA members, regardless of Handicap Index. Events contain both net and gross flights and range from individual to team competitions. Learn more about the program here.
