Four-Ball Net Championship

BAKERSFIELD DUO EARNS 2013 SCGA FOUR-BALL NET TITLE

October 1, 2013

Results

Jeremy Myers and Julian Williamson III of Bakersfield CC put together a two-day total of 20-under par 124 to earn the 34th annual SCGA Four-Ball Net title. The day-one leaders followed up Monday's score of net 60 with a Tuesday score of net 64 to capture their first SCGA win, defeating the team of Mike Banducci and Dale Keene of North Kern Men's GC by four strokes. The Shellback GC tandem of Phil Fetto and David Helman took third place at 15-under par.

The champions were able to beat the field by avoiding mistakes, carding just one bogey throughout Round 2. An eagle on the par 5, 17th hole sealed the deal. The day, however, was highlighted by runner-up Keene, who aced the par 3, 9th hole, which happened to be his first hole of the day. The hole-in-one kicked off a round of net 61 on his own ball for the Bakersfield resident.

Played at Sycuan Resort, the 36-hole championship included 52 teams. To reach the championship, teams had to first qualify at one of Southern California’s four sectional qualifying sites. In fact, several of the teams had to go through qualifying at their home club just to reach the SCGA sectional sites. The four-ball net format uses the team’s best net score on each hole to come up with an 18-hole total.
