2016 SCGA Public Links Net Championship

The 2016 SCGA Public Links Net Championship concluded Sunday afternoon at Brookside GC in Pasadena. Three flights of players competed in the 49th annual two-day Championship.

The Bobby Jones Flight new champion is Jason Vaughn (Burbank Men’s GC) taking over the first-place position held by reigning champ, Michael Keane (Lakewood Men’s GC) going into day two of competition. Vaughn scored rounds of 69 and 66 respectively to capture the title with a 135 total.

Anthony Buccino (Golf Southern Cal Club) captured second carding 73 – 67 for a total of 140. Keane held a place on the leaderboard sharing third with Adolfo Reyes (Golf Southern Cal Club) both shooting 141 two-day totals.

Amir Christopher Shafii (Golf Southern Cal Club) dominated the Jack Nicklaus Flight with a 9-under par 133 to take the championship. Starting off day one with a strong 69 Shafii entered the second day of competition as the leader and finished with an astounding 64 to conclude the tournament.

The Jack Nicklaus flight awarded second to Chris Riley (South Bay Pub Links GC) with a two-day total of 139, shooting 72 and 67 respectively. Jason Argos rounded out this fresh leaderboard with a third place score of 141 over two days of play.

The Arnold Palmer first place champion is Don Slayton (Ventura Men’s GC) carding 65 and 70 for a two-day total of 135. Hyemi Han (SCGA eClub) captured a close second shooting a 136 total in her first ever tournament event. Jose Amaya (South Bay Senior Men’s GC) took home third place with a 141.
