After weeks of play, the 2014 SCGA Team Play season drew to a close Sunday. One of the most popular SCGA programs, SCGA Team Play began in 1900 and has grown to include more than 245 clubs and 8,000 participants each year. This is the first year both championships were held on the same day.
Red Hill Country Club out of Rancho Cucamonga defeated The Los Angeles Country Club (Cardinal) 30 – 18 in the Thursday bracket. Players endured high winds throughout the afternoon under sparkling sunshine. This the third time Red Hill has captured the Thursday title, with the last being in 2008. Red Hill defeated Canyon Lake, Apple Valley and Dove Canyon en route to the finals.

Saticoy Country Club out of Somis defeated Bear Lake Golf Club 25 – 23 in a thrilling match that came down to the final pairings of the day. This is the first time Saticoy has won the Saturday title, having previously won the Thursday title in 2006. Saticoy defeated Las Posas, Braemar, Riverlakes Ranch and Burbank on their way to the finals.
SATURDAY RESULTS SATURDAY BRACKET
The finals were held at Sandpiper Golf Club in Goleta. Previously home to the SCGA Match Play Championships, this is the second time the Team Play Finals was held in Santa Barbara County. The 6,392 yard layout offers an enjoyable, yet demanding, test of golf. The course overlooks the Pacific Ocean and offers stellar views that will tantalize all of the players.
